World Wellness Weekend: We Can Touch Lives

Liz Belford

I’m excited to announce that Rosewater Spa of Oakville in partnership with Seaflora Skincare are participating in World Wellness Weekend (WWW) September 18 & 19.

World Wellness Weekend inspires & empowers millions of people around the world through thousands of FUN, free & meaningful wellness activities organized in more than 120 countries!

Through our participation we aim to inspire and empower people to make healthier choices and enjoy an active lifestyle with family & friends. The current health situation around the world reminds us how important it is to have a strong immune system.

As you read in last month’s blog we know that massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being. We also know that the benefits of our Vichy Shower treatment (exclusive to Rosewater in Oakville!) combined with a Seaflora Skincare Detox Wrap deliver a highly effective treatment contributing to your overall wellness.

I’m so very pleased that Seaflora Skincare is joining us in this WWW event.

Pioneering the use of fresh, raw seaweed in the skincare industry, Diane Bernard devoted over two decades to the research and development of the world’s first skincare line formulated from certified organic seaweed, Seaflora Skincare.

Diane’s revolutionary approach to using fresh seaweed in skincare is far-reaching: through years of testing, the Seaflora Skincare team has developed methods that keep raw nutrients in seaweed biologically active.

As a Leading Spa of Canada, Rosewater Spa of Oakville has designed treatments that offer the best support for modern day life and utilize the healing powers of the ocean harvested by the Top Spa Partner of Canada, Seaflora Skincare. Wellness is a lifestyle of self preservation rituals designed to detox and nourish the mind, body and soul, which as a team we work together to offer exactly that to all of our guests.

We’ve prepared a video to show you the full Vichy Seaflora Skincare experience and you can watch it right here

I do hope you will join us either in person or virtually on World Wellness Weekend as we touch lives in our own backyard and all around the globe!

I don’t know if it’s just me. Shortly after Thanksgiving I began to sense a mild vibration around me. At first, I’m never certain what it’s about but then it all comes flooding back…it’s time to start thinking about finding the perfect Christmas gift for my family and friends. On the one hand, it’s kind of fun. On the other hand, it becomes ever more challenging to find the solution that’s just right for everyone on the list. I am the kind of person who takes the time to think about what might be perfect and completely personal. And, now that most of the people on my docket have all of the stuff they’ll ever need (and more) my creative skills and imagination must come into play!

Among the many challenges extended isolation had during COVID was the strain placed on couples cooped up for months on end. Regardless of the strength of a relationship enforced togetherness can create stress. This has left couples searching for a way to rekindle the celebration of being with one another. Couples are missing “experiences”, they are missing travel time together, missing fun in the sun on a tropical beach, missing time abroad … missing sharing new experiences together as a couple. Romantic time together and dates! Couples who present a “united front” can move through tough times by reframing problems as obstacles to tackle together.* One such couple is Vicki and George Fiddler who for 15 years have been loyal patrons of the Rosewater Spa. Their united front has been a commitment to the benefits and enjoyment of couples massage.

I have a favour to ask of you. It’s a safe assumption that each of you knows someone who has been touched by cancer. While remarkable progress has been made in prevention and treatment, cancer continues to infiltrate the lives of too many women - young and old. When I created Rosewater Spa I made a commitment to myself that this business would always give back to the community and among the causes I support cancer is one of the areas where we can make a real difference in the lives of women undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. I know so many women, who ring the bell at the conclusion of their treatment and are then faced with an expectation from others that life now will return to ‘normal’. I also know from so many women that this just isn’t so. Most of them are advised that recovering from radiation and/or chemotherapy will require up to 12 months and even then there can be lingering effects.

It’s been such a joy to see our clients, old and new, back in the spa. The energy that is created from reconnection is so fulfilling and we’re delighted to be able to offer our services to you again. It’s made such a difference to emerge from the pandemic and experience again the real healing that arises from re-engagement. Witnessing this took me back down memory lane to the time when I was criss-crossing the globe before opening Rosewater and pursuing my quest to learn best practises in the spa business. That time afforded me the benefit of learning how different cultures have distinct approaches to well-being while at the same time acknowledging that a common theme is the interconnectedness of mind-body-spirit in healing. Many traditional healing systems emphasize body and breathing in maintaining well-being. In India there are healing practices that feature regular massage with body oils, yoga, and pranayama also known as breathing techniques for maintaining balance.
